Conservation of Yau Ma Tei Wholesale Fruit Market is a controversial issue between government and society. This market had already existed for almost 100 years in Yau Ma Tei District, this historical significant enhance the architecture, cultural and social value of this place. Although Heritage Office had classified fruit market as the Grade II Historical Building in 2009, government still does not have any conservation planning for the fruit market.

However, the future of the fruit market still becomes a mystery. The first stage of the project is to study and analysis of the existing fabric of the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market and then to explore a new design and preserve the spirit of place by using the adaptive re-use approach.

The aims of the project is continue to focus on orthogonal drawings (Plans, Elevations and Sections) with hand and computer drawings in 1:20. Also, physical models in 1:20 that allowed students to get in control of their focus of study by providing some real skills (observing, describing, drawing, making).
